28th Intl. Islamic Unity Conf. opens in Iran

TEHRAN, Jan. 07 (MNA) – 28th International Islamic Unity Conference, a Tehran-based World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) opened today in Iran’s capital city, Tehran.

At the opening ceremony, WFPIST Secretary General Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Hezbollah Deputy Secretary General Sheikh Naeem Qassem delivered a speech.

The three-day conference aims at discussing ways to promote unity and solidarity in the Islamic world, to approximate views of Muslim clerics and scholars’ on diverse religious issues and discuss the issue of Palestine.

Around 1,200 Islamic scholars and intellectuals from around the globe are taking part at the conference. The participants include educated Muslim figures, ministers of Islamic countries, clerics, scholars and representatives of scientific and cultural circles from Iran and across the world.
